The electropop duo dominated The Music Hall of Williamsburg this past Wednesday.
Consisting of New York’s own DJ’s Ben “B-Roc” Ruttner and James “JPatt” Patterson, The Knocks brought the fire to Williamsburg. As I arrived around 10:00 p.m. for the Knocks, who went on promptly at 10:30 p.m., it seemed as if most of the fans were just starting to arrive. Once inside, it was obvious that you were surrounded by die-hard Knock fans. Normally it takes a while for the crowd to warm up, but these fans were already so hype. The energy was high at the Music Hall of Williamsburg and everyone was dancing in unison to the music and getting low as the bass dropped. Not only were the two DJs enjoying themselves, they prompted fans to ensure their neighbors were having a good time.
Throughout the night, The Knocks brought out so many guest vocals, that it was hard to keep track of all the appearances. Some of the guest vocals included Phoebe Ryan, St.Lucia, Powers and Sneaky Sound System. The duo started of with “Time” and played “Comfortable” with members from X Ambassadors, “Collect My Love” with Glee’s Alex Newell, “Brightside,” “Dancing with the DJ” and “Magic.” JPatt also spun “Dancing With Myself,” dedicated to his mother who was in the audience. The night was filled with good times and the duo did an excellent job of showcasing new tracks from their recent Classic EP as well some of their actual classics.
