Michael B. Jordan partners with Bacardi for an exclusive mixology class at Las’ Lap in NYC.
After meeting in Miami during Art Basel, VP of BACARDÍ North America, Roberto Ramirez Laverde discovered Jordan’s passion and love for rum and began to collaborate on various projects, including the debut of The Angel’s Share short film, which was co-directed by Jordan.

“Being able to form this partnership a couple of years ago and being able to direct The Angel’s Share was really important to me,” says Jordan. “Getting behind the camera, for me, was really important. They trusted me and Paul Hunter’s vision to go out and execute, so I’m really excited about this partnership.”
The short film follows the makings of Bacardi’s aged rums.
Last night at Las’ Lap in the Lower East Side of NYC, Jordan led a private, step-by-step mixology class featuring the Bacardi Premium Rum Portfolio.
“Bacardi represents family, tradition, hard work; not really taking any shortcuts to success and that’s something I really like to align myself up with, so we share a lot of the same values and the same morals [and] being able to collaborate with you guys is really important, so I appreciate it… [Las’ Lap] is a collective rum bar between me and one of my closest friends and to be able to see everybody in here, to be able to have this partnership, this collaboration, in something that was an empty shell a year ago, it’s mind-blowing. Every time I order something from off the menu, it actually comes out [laughter]. Yeah, so it’s pretty cool and I’m really excited,” says Jordan.
Las’ Lap Beverage Director, Darnell Holguin, joined Jordan in instructing attendees on how to make The King Cuatro, made with BACARDÍ Añejo Cuatro rum, and the Ocho Old Fashioned made with BACARDÍ Reserva Ocho rum.

The exclusive event ended with a birthday celebration and a huge Confetti cake, sponsored by Bacardi, which Jordan sliced and shared with attendees.

“Thank you,” he says, “You’re not getting a speech, speech, but thank you guys for the birthday cake. It’s awesome. It’s been an incredible year, honestly, and to top it off with this, the cake, this event, it’s pretty special. I couldn’t really ask for too much more. God’s been giving me literally everything I want right now so, just being humble, highly favored, and appreciative of all the blessings that’s been going on in my life and the people that I’ve had the chance to meet over the past couple of years. So thank you guys for being a part of my life and being a part of this great moment.”
