Last week Liu Yong X Rishikensh showcased their NYFW SS 2020 collaboration.

Chinese designer Liu Yong partnered with Rishikensh on their Spring/Summer 2020 capsule collection, which focused on streetwear. The color palette included neons, pops of metallic, blue, orange and green, as well tie-dye patterns throughout the collection. The ready to wear collection featured athleisure, hoodies, raincoats, jumpsuits, t-shirts and tank tops.

What stood out about this runway was the designers’ use of children models to showcase the looks from young to youngest. Another refreshing aspect to the collection was the designer’s tie-dying method which was to dye the clothing after the piece was designed.

Our favorite looks combined textures, color and designs. We loved the use of mesh and layered fabrics, and the innovative use of accessories such as shoelaces being used as belts. The models’ hair and makeup enhanced the already bold and vibrant looks. Models rocked braids and bold neon eyes, even some male models sported a little eyeshadow.

Liu Yong is one of China’s top 10 designers, who created his own fashion studio in 2003, street fashion brand in 2015 and won the “China Fashion Designer Top Award” in 2016. The RISHIKENSH brand aims to unite yoga culture with street culture and punk culture.
