On The Scene: Kickoff to Le Trumpet at Freehold in Brooklyn

On Friday night, January 25, invited guests lined up at Freehold Brooklyn to witness Spencer Ludwig’s immersive live music performance, Le Trumpet.

Walking in from the cold night, the interior was warming with a somewhat tropical decorative interior. There was even an acrobat doing backbends and splits on the bar, to the amazement of those gathered around the watering hole. The event was sponsored by Bumble, so good news for singles, if they downloaded the app that night then they get a free drink. Bar nibbles, like fries and shishito peppers, were also available to help soak up the booze before Spencer graced the stage.

This fluorescent night was the first of a five-part series on the last Friday of every month from January-May 2019 and will be accompanied by surprise musicians, dancers, and DJ’s. Spencer began his solo career after leaving the multi-platinum band Capital Cities, which he was a member of from 2012-2015. Now he has spread his wings as a solo artist and recently opened for big acts, such as Jason Derulo, the Chainsmokers, and Betty Who, and performed at Bonnaroo and Pride festivals around the country this past summer. The Los Angeles born trumpeter and vocalist take the stage with pizazz and sonic energy as he bends that trumpet to his will while crowd surfing.

His music is dimensional and unexpected as he incorporates a full brass ensemble into his music. His vivacious new song Best Life was released earlier this month. Don’t miss the next immersive music night at Freehold of Le Trumpet on the last Friday of February. We eagerly await more work from this talented musician.
