The Knockturnal was on the scene for a special advanced screening of “Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore,” on April 6 in New York City at AMC Lincoln Square.
The film hits theaters this Friday, but we got a sneak peak. The IMAX event gave fans the opportunity to see the film early, receive awesome Fantastic Beasts merch, pose in a cool photo booth and experience a live Q & A with some of the cast. The special event was also live streamed to Boston, Chicago, LA, OC, Salt Late City, San Diego, Seattled, San Francisco and Toronto.
When we arrived at AMC Lincoln Square excitement was in the air. Fans dressed as witches and wizards lined the block. There was an elaborate step and repeat in the lobby of the theater. After posing for a few pics on the red carpet, we headed to the IMAX theater located on the very top floor. The theater staff was fantastic.
We were handed a “Secrets of Dumbledore” cap, a special edition Dumbledore wand and a movie poster. Next up, we posed for pics in the film photo booth. Then we grabbed a complementary pop corn and beverage and headed inside. A moderator kept the crowd entertained before the cast arrived. He gave additional film swag bags to attendees who answered trivia questions correctly.
Jude Law, Mads Mikkelsen and Alison Sudol sent a video message from the UK. Soon the cast including William Nadylam, Director David Yates, Dan Fogler, Eddie Redmayne, Victoria Yeates and Jessica Williams all arrived. They participated in an entertaining panel. Below are a few clips:
After the theater cast a “Lumos” spell with Eddie Redmayne, it was time to watch the movie. This is our favorite “Fantastic Beasts” movie, yet. It captures the magic of the original Potter films with new stories and adventures. In this installment, we learn more about Dumbledore’s past and his relationship with Grindelwald.
