HBO & Serena Williams celebrate the release of the “Being Serena” Docuseries.
On Tuesday, April 24th, tucked in between New York’s Meatpacking and Greenwich Village neighborhoods, HBO & Serena Williams hosted an event celebrating the release of a 5 part documentary about the tennis superstar.
HBO turned famed venue Industria into an immersive experience celebrating the life of the greatest tennis player ever, Serena Williams. In a festive, early evening club vibe, with tunes provided by Just Dimy, the walls were adorned with screens featuring photos and video clips chronicling Serena’s life and career. The space also featured a tennis court, a collection of Serena’s tennis outfits, and a ball pitt full of, you guessed it, tennis balls. Also, if you follow Serena, you know she loves to dance, and to celebrate that, celebrity choreographer Jose “Hollywood” Ramos taught guests the steps to Serena’s cameo in NERD’s Lemonade video.
All of that prepared guests for the surprise of the evening, the guest of honor Serena Williams herself arrived to tour the experience, dance with the crowd, and of course take a dive in the ball pit. If the trailer is any indication, the 5 part docuseries will be a hit. The series examines Serena’s career, marriage, pregnancy, and looming comeback to tennis. It airs on HBO on May 2nd at 10pm and will air subsequent Wednesdays at the same time. For more on the series, click here.
