Last week, we attended G-Shock’s Holiday press preview.
With a beautiful set up in New York’s midtown, G-shock’s upcoming releases feature a design or focus for everybody. While durability was a heavy focus in several collections this season, the press preview also featured a history vault with archived collaborations from KITH to Bape. Other standout collection were the Gorillaz collection, with each bandmate having their own design.
My tour began with a look at the upcoming styles from G-Shock’s S Series designed for women’s athletic or leisure-wear. The FW 18 G Shock S Series features a variety of colorways from pastel blue to lavender to more neutral shades and tones like gray, beige, and white. The S Series silhouette is much smaller than the traditional, bulkier G-Shock while maintaining the same durability.
The luxury styles to watch for this upcoming season are MTGB1000, with Bluetooth technology and smartphone pairing. For women, the MSG200D combines upscale aesthetic with functionality to create a sophisticated everyday look while the GMDS6900MC matte finish and bezel make it the perfect ready-to-wear/ streetwear accessory. The most outstanding, durable and expensive variety of G-Shock by far were the MR-G. From the way, it’s meticulously crafted and designed to its ability to withstand insurmountable pressure the MR-G is almost indestructible and sexy at the same time.
