On Tuesday, January 22nd, Brittany Howard took to the Los Angeles Palladium stage as part of Citi’s Sound Vault series.
The Sound Vault series is a four-day event with different artists, with the likes of Coldplay and the Jonas Brothers, showcased at the Palladium all leading up to the 62nd Annual Grammy Awards Sunday, January 26th.
Brittany is nominated for two awards this year “Best Rock Song” and “Best Rock Performance” for her song “History Repeats.” Although her debut solo album Jaime was released after the eligibility period on September 20th, 2019, “History Repeats” was released in June as part of a three single rollout including “Stay High” and “He Loves Me” which followed in August.
Although this was her first solo effort, these two nominations bring Brittany to a total of 11 nominations and having won a total of 4 with the collective known as Alabama Shakes. Howard put on a set lasting roughly an hour and a half that had everyone in attendance mesmerized, singing and dancing along.
The energy she carried engulfed the room seconds into the first song. Some fellow musicians in attendance included Nicholas Petricca, lead singer of Walk the Moon, Donald Glover also known as Childish Gambino who has a total of five Grammy wins and Tyler, The Creator who is set to perform at this year’s Grammy’s ceremony.
