New York City was electrified with excitement as music icon Cyndi Lauper celebrated the premiere of her captivating documentary, “Let The Canary Sing,” at the Tribeca Film Festival on Wednesday. The star-studded event took place at Serafina Upper West, one of the homes of the Tribeca Cinema Center, where lively celebrations happened all throughout the festival.  Joined by her personal family, friends, industry filmmakers, cinephiles, and the supportive Sony Music family, Cyndi Lauper basked in the spotlight, toasting with attendees at the intimate bash and delivering a speech filled with her trademark pizazz.

The documentary, directed by Alison Ellwood, took the audience on a nostalgic journey through Lauper’s life and career. Starting with her upbringing in Queens, the film showcased Lauper’s rebellious youth and her unwavering commitment to pushing back against intolerance. It then delved into her meteoric rise in the music scene, highlighting her ability to craft vibrant, catchy, and socially resonant songs that have become classics. The film was brought to life by a spirited narrative anchored by Lauper herself, complemented by lively archival footage of her cheeky personality and mesmerizing performances over the years.

Alison Ellwood’s documentary celebrated Cyndi Lauper as an outspoken feminist artist who has not only left an indelible mark on the music industry but has also been a stalwart advocate and champion for others. Through her body of work, Lauper has continually used her platform to empower marginalized communities and promote equality. “I didn’t want anyone to tell me what I could and couldn’t do,” Lauper said.

After the screening, the celebration continued at Serafina Upper West, an uptown Italian eatery known for its elegant ambiance and delicious cuisine. As the evening progressed, guests indulged in a selection of wines curated by the renowned Sommsation wine experience experts. The exquisite wine offerings were accompanied by Peroni Nastro Azzurro, both the premium Italian lager and the refreshing 0.0% non-alcoholic lager, providing a delightful choice for all attendees.

The culinary delights continued with an abundance of delicious Serafina Italian cuisine favorites. To add a touch of sweetness, premium Magnum ice cream bars were served.

To further enhance the evening’s festivities, a range of handcrafted cocktails featuring renowned spirits were served. Attendees had the opportunity to enjoy libations infused with the smooth and rich flavors of Milagro Tequila, the distinctive botanical blend of Hendrick’s Gin, the pure Icelandic origins of Reyka Vodka, and the unique character of Hudson Whisky.

As the night came to a close, Lauper expressed her gratitude to the attendees for their unwavering support throughout her remarkable career. Her infectious energy and genuine appreciation for her fans resonated throughout her speech, leaving an indelible impression on all who were present.

Guests at the various film soirees sipped on a selection of hand-picked wines from Sommsation wine experience experts, along with Peroni Nastro Azzurro, both their premium Italian lager and 0.0% non-alcoholic lager.
