On February 10th, the Oxford Fashion Studio launched a show featuring the work of eleven up-and-coming fashion designers from all around the world.

The newcomers unveiled their collections on the runway at Studio 450 during New York Fashion Week (NYFW). For the chosen designers, this show marked a thrilling opportunity to showcase their original work to hundreds of industry professionals, breaking ground for themselves in the competitive world of fashion.

Studio 450 was filled with industry members looking to see what these fresh faces had to offer. An innovative surreal consciousness permeated the studio as the mingling crowd sipped Prosecco from delicate glasses with a perfect Manhattan skyline behind them.

Featured designer Rachel Pollack of Rachel Pollack Designs made her way to NYFW all the way from Overland Park, Kansas. Pollack brought with her a strong modern collection with a classic twist full of color and prints while keeping an elegant and sophisticated aura. Pollack’s collection entitled  “Uptown Goddess” was decidedly feminine with a hint of floral embroidery detailing each piece. Green vines with eye-catching pink flowers popped off of pant legs, bodices, sleeves, or waistbands. Fur cuffs adorned the models’ wrists, bringing a modern twist to the classic body of work.

When asked about the inspiration behind her unique looks, Pollack said, “It was inspired by folk style and ancient Egyptian. So, I took that idea and decided to make an entire collection on it. I think the clothing that they wore was so elegant and different. I was like, ‘I have to do a whole collection.’”

Other designers featured in the show included Shabeeg, who brought a new Armenian collection full of beautiful patterns and prints, a modern take on the nineteenth century Armenian taraz.
