On May 31, the non-profit Pride Live presented the Stonewall Unplugged event at Hudson Yards. Songstress Sudie and Eurovision artist Netta Barzi performed songs. Host David Correa interviewed artist Mariyea about their career. Event organizers live-streamed the event on YouTube as well.

Pride Live spreads awareness and support for LGBTQIA+ people through social events. Since 2021, the organization has hosted Stonewall Day Unplugged. The events showcase the LGBTQIA+ community’s leaders. They feature established and emerging musicians. Concert opener Sudie impressed viewers with operatic vocals.

On stage, she used a synthesizer, looper, and computer with expertise. She performed an unreleased song called “Grease.” It will appear on her first full-length album. The song featured airy vocals and giggles. Sudie combined electronic beats and classical soprano vocals. She discussed her music experience with Correa.

Since childhood, she has had a passion for music. “I wrote my first song when I was about four years old,” said Sudie. She earned a Bachelor’s degree in operatic studies but loves all genres. Sudie blended her wide range of musical knowledge within her songs. She performed a second unreleased song as well.

Sudie used the same music software. This song will also appear on her upcoming album as well. The track featured passionate high notes and dreamy synth sounds. After her set, Correa introduced Mariyea.

Mariyea discussed their preparation for Pride Month, which occurred each June. They said, “I’m trying to sleep and make sure that I have the space to enjoy it.”

They felt gratitude by performing with established artists. Mariyea specifically mentioned Christina Augularia. “I’m making little me proud,” they said. After the interview, Correa introduced Netta.

At this concert, she performed her hit singles, “Toy,” “I Love My Nails,” and “Playground Politica.” Netta made percussion sounds with her mouth. Using a looper, she made the sounds repeat. Then, she sang in a rich alto voice. She discussed her vision behind “I Love My Nails.”

During this song’s production, Netta suffered a breakup. Prior to this tragic event, she thought of herself as self-confident. A manicure appointment inspired her to feel more positive. “At first, I found it easier to say ‘I love my nails’ rather than ‘I love myself,’” said Netta. She discussed her childhood experiences in Nigeria.

She attended an international school with a positive environment. Then, Netta moved to Israel, which had a different educational environment. She learned to love her body and personality through music. “I found a community. When you receive love, you step away from darkness,” said Netta. The event had an open bar.

The Rebel cocktail contained Aperol, rhubarb, strawberries, and limes. The Green Goddess drink had club soda, lemons, cucumbers, and mint leaves. The event featured hors d’oeuvres as well.

Colorful fruit on skewers laid on a gray plate. Artisanal popcorn sat in elegant, single-use cups. Finger sandwiches with melted cheese sat on a portable grill. In-person attendees obtained a special gift.

Guests received free Edge NYC bracelets. They experienced metropolitan views one-hundred-and-one stories above Manhattan. The indoor area had a gorgeous floral corner for photographs. An upcoming event will feature perks as well.

The one-hour event served as a preview to Stonewall Day. Each year, this larger event honors and celebrates the historical Stonewall Riot’s legacy. In June 2023, the festival will celebrate the Stonewall Historical Monument. This memorial will stand in the footprints of the 1960s protesters. This year’s event has an exciting lineup.

Aguilera will headline the 2023 occasion. The lineup includes Resident DJ Lina Bradford and featured performers Betty, Mila Jam, and Mariyea. Event partners make Pride Live’s vibrant events possible.

Event partners include Google, Google Pixel, Android, and Michael Kors. Others include Chase, AARP, Josephine Skriver, and Amazon. Others consist of Apple, Versace, Christian Siriano, National Football League, Yankees, and SAG-AFTRA.

Ardea Partners, Gill Foundation, Out + The Advocate, and ZapDog Travel provided assistance. Nasdaq, Bloomingdale’s, United Therapeutics Association, Warner Bros. Discovery, and Virgin helped out. Circle of Confusion, Elton John AIDS Foundation, MLS, and Red Bull New York backed the event.

Link NYC, National Parks Conservation Association, NYC LGBT Historic Sites Project, and NYC Go provided support as well.
