A great summer comedy that will keep you lauging
No Way Jose, starring Adam Goldberg, is a coming of ‘middle’ age story about a man going on the golden age of 40 who seems to be all over the place. The story starts off with Jose (Adam Goldberg) living an arguably normal life, he is engaged, has caring friends, and is in a band that seems to be his only source of income – so a pretty normal life for a 40 year old. However, it only takes one night for him and his fiancé to get into an argument in which the result is his life getting turned upside down. With his now ex fiancé kicking him out of his house, Jose has to rediscover who he is and what he wants in life while living off of the couch of his best friend and his wife.
What was interesting about this film was the way the story progressed. This film had a lot of comedic moments in it, but the way the jokes and the somewhat far-fetched storyline was presented was almost in a deadpan and serious way which made it seem very unconventional at some points –but ended up doing a lot of good for this movie. Adam Goldberg did a wonderful job of playing this childlike adult and really sold the idea that no matter how old you are, you can still be the most immature person in the world. All in all, this sort of dark comedy hits a lot of good marks and is a film for people who just want to see a different take on what it means to live life to the fullest.
The film is now playing.
