Welcome to our first NMF of the year! Our first edition features some of our favorite closing tracks of 2023, as well as some newly-released gems from the likes of Volaris, Josef Scott, SAYMYNITTI, Martial Simon, and more.

VOLARIS – CLOSE TO YOU [HORIZN]

Embarking on 2024 with flair, breakout artist Volaris unveils “Close To You,” a mesmerizing six-minute journey through synth-told tales. This marks the inaugural release on his label, HORIZN, a venture with industry powerhouse The Circuit Group.  HORIZN, a groundbreaking joint venture with The Circuit Group, transcends the conventional label, offering a realm where artistic freedom reigns.  The track, accompanied by a Simon Doty remix, showcases Volaris’ signature fusion of scintillating synths and raw energy. In a remarkable journey, Volaris’ evolution, battling cancer and embracing fatherhood, led to the creation of HORIZN, promising to redefine melodic house and techno.

MARTIAL SIMON & MARZVILLE – BREAK MY STRIDE [GET SET RECORDS]

Martial Simon and Soca sensation MarzVille join forces, breathing new life into Matthew Wilder’s classic “Break My Stride.” This collaboration infuses the track with vibrant electronic elements and MarzVille’s infectious vocal style, creating a dynamic fusion of EDM and Soca. As the founder of GET SET Records, Martial Simon’s influence extends beyond his success, shaping the careers of others. With millions of streams in 2023, Martial Simon continues solidifying his position as a dance music virtuoso, offering us a refreshing take on a beloved classic for a new era.

SHERM x CHRIS DIAZ – STANDING OVATION [CANDY FLIP]

Chicago’s rising house sensation, Sherm, collaborated with San Diego’s Chris Diaz to deliver a grand finale to last year with their latest masterpiece, “Standing Ovation.” Released via Candy Flip Records, the track is a pulsating tech house odyssey, blending Sherm’s signature touch with Diaz’s unique melodic sensibilities. The result is a hypnotic anthem, characterized by intricate layers, a mesmerizing vocal sample, and a thumping rhythm that captures the underground spirit with broad appeal. Acknowledged by various tastemakers, Sherm continues his hot streak, while Chris Diaz’s dynamic presence in house music is affirmed. “Standing Ovation” has the potential to be a timeless and innovative gem, marking a memorable collaboration.

SAYMINITTI x MIDIAN – CAN’T FIND MY FRIENDS [SPINNIN’ RECORDS]

SAYMYNITTI, the dynamic duo of NITTI and SAYMYNAME, is set to transport audiences to the exhilarating era of 90s and early 2000s rave culture with their latest single, “Can’t Find My Friends.” Released via Spinnin’ Records, the track features emphatic vocals from Midian and captures the essence of making memories with friends. Fusing old-school trance with contemporary production, SAYMYNITTI‘s energetic sound promises to leave a lasting mark on the electronic music scene. Their debut in 2022 with “BING BONG!” marked a powerful entry, and their latest anthem continues to ignite crowds globally.

DOPE – GOON [FUXWITHIT]

Halifax-based duo dope returns to FUXWITHIT with the gritty bass anthem ‘Goon,’ showcasing their prowess in blending 140, hip-hop, and more. The track, a filthy trap anthem, lures listeners in with a spine-tingling melody, hypnotic rhythms, and a fierce bounce. dope’s ability to balance classic trap elements with a modern bass sound solidifies their position as one of the best duos in the scene. The duo’s unique blend of experimental bass, dub, rap, and grime continues to elevate them in East Coast Canada’s bass music scene.

RE:ABEL – CONCENTRATE

Melbourne’s emerging talent, re:abel, helmed by Ryan Gasparini, unveils the subtly darker and explorative sounds of his latest single ‘Concentrate.’ A unique blend of Future/UK Garage electronica, re:abel’s sonic landscape, reminiscent of Overmono, Burial, and Joy Orbison, takes listeners through rainy city streets and neon-lit underground bass music clubs. Following the uplifting ‘Carbonceramics,’ ‘Concentrate‘ showcases Gasparini’s versatility and creativity in crafting atmospheric and immersive electronic music, positioning him as a noteworthy newcomer in the scene

MATRODA x POLOVICH – THE FUNK YOU WANT [TERMINAL UNDERGROUND]

Matroda, the unstoppable force in electronic dance music, concluded 2023 with a dazzling release, “The Funk You Want,” alongside rising talent POLOVICH. A master of blending funky vocals, bass-infused melodies, and tech-house grooves, Matroda solidifies his status at the forefront of the genre. His influence, marked by accolades and a vast discography, continues to soar as he embarks on a North America winter tour. The Croatian-raised producer’s unique ‘matrodasound’ captivates global audiences, embodying the essence of electronic music’s boundless potential.

JOSEF SCOTT – SUMMER DOPAMINE

Auckland’s own Josef Scott invites listeners on a sun-soaked journey with his latest single, “Summer Dopamine.” Crafted during a Boston winter, the track exudes warmth through infectious rhythms and catchy hooks, capturing the euphoria of fleeting romances and the anticipation for the upcoming summer. Josef’s exploration of a new sound resonates in this universal anthem, transporting audiences to the radiant memories of New Zealand’s summer. The cover art, a snapshot of transitioning seasons, mirrors the song’s essence, creating a vivid and nostalgic musical escape.
