We’ve picked a few under-the-radar releases to help keep the mid-week momentum going. This week we have selections from Frameworks, Ky William, fknsyd, and more.

MATPHILLY & SUBSHOCKERS PRESENT: A.M.P.

LA-based artists matphilly and SUBshockers recently united in a powerful 5-track EP, A.M.P., titled after the initials of matphilly’s brother who tragically passed away in 2020. To honor his memory and as a form of self-healing, matphilly recruited his close friends and talented production duo SUBshockers to create a reflective and sentimental body of work. The A.M.P. EP beautifully commemorates his legacy via delicate sonic textures, lush soundscapes, invigorating bass drops, and guest vocals from JROHMSKII and Danica Reyes. Using music as a therapeutic output, matphilly produces some of his best work yet, and is guaranteed to tug at emotional heartstrings when played live in his upcoming audio-visual performances.

FRAMEWORKS – COLD

Following in the footsteps of evocative recent singles “Circles,” “NO TIME,” and “BLUE LIGHT feat. Cleopold,” which set the tone for Frameworks’ new beat-oriented musical direction, “Cold” is another sign of exciting things to come from Manchester-based talent Frameworks’ upcoming album, Reflections. Showcasing Frameworks’ talent for rich, warm compositions, “Cold” scatters chopped-up vocal melodies over an atmospheric trip-hop beat, draped in blossoming strings and haunting pianos. To align with his current musical and philosophical mentality, Frameworks is moving away from the downtempo, nostalgic stylings of his past work into an electronica-fueled sound that emphasizes the need for enjoying the present. Reflections is out April 14th.

FKNSYD – TASTE.TEST LP [CREATE MUSIC GROUP]

Sydney Fisher – best known as fknsyd – has gained recognition in the dance music space by collaborating with gargantuan names such as Slander, RL Grime, Rezz, Wavedash, SLANDER, and many more.  Taste.test is her first long-form solo project and features a collection of tracks she’s produced throughout the span of the last two years. From radio-friendly cuts to experimental productions to vocal-driven sonic treats, the project offers a raw look into the work she’s poured herself into while developing her own artistic voice. With Taste.test, fknsyd is one step closer to claiming her spot as a fully autonomous solo artist in the ever-evolving electronic/experimental space.

KY WILLIAM – TOUCHÉ [ANDHERA RECORDS]

Equally at home in an underground warehouse, as he is on the mainstage, Ky William sound draws influence from deep groves and elements of hip-hop. On the heels of his participation in the fourth installment of Circus Recordings’ annual compilation LP, Movements, rising Brooklyn-based DJ, producer, and Andhera Records label-head Ky William unveils his first official single of the year, “Touche.” Featuring a deep, funk bassline, delicate, textured string riffs  and detailed percussive elements, perfectly paired alongside an alluring vocal cut, ‘Touche’ embodies a dark, stimulating ambiance evocative of an after-hours party. In a masterfully arranged format, ‘Touche’ demonstrates Ky William’s inimitable sound design and musical prowess. Providing an unparalleled and catchy listening experience, ‘Touche’ is sure to be a crowd favorite and serves as a stellar addition to Andhera Records. On April 15th, The multifaceted artist will be hosting a production masterclass at the .004 Gallery in Williamsburg, Brooklyn alongside other influential industry professionals – more info can be found here.

DUCKWORTHSOUND & DREAD MC – DND CONNECTION [DO NOT DUPLICATE RECORDINGS]

Under the careful curation of BIJOU, Do Not Duplicate Recordings continues to defy the boundaries within house music and creates a space in the electronic dance scene that is entirely unique. Continuing to expand and grow with each passing year, DND Recs is pleased to announce the release of their highly-anticipated compilation album curated by London-based DJ and producer Duckworthsound and renowned Bristol-based micman Dread MC, ‘DND Connection’ A true celebration of UK dance music culture, the  ‘DND Connection’ compilation showcases the vibrant and eclectic sounds that have come to define the bass-house genre. Offering a refreshingly distinctive soundscape, the unique collection includes 9 original tracks from the likes of Kyogre, Albzzy, Cheery-O, AnnicK, and more, as well as a collaboration from Duckworthsound, Dread MC, and AK Renny.
