Check out some of our favorite releases of the month. This week’s edition includes new music from Sebastián Yatra, Rinzen, Liquid Stranger, Rain Man, and more.
SEBASTIAN YATRA – PAREJA DEL AÑO FT. MYKE TOWERS [UMG]
International chart-topping mainstay Sebastián Yatra teamed up with Puerto Rican-rapper/singer phenomenon Myke Towers for his latest genre-crossing hit, ‘Pareja Del Año’. The song was crafted with Yatra and producer duo Andrés Torres and Mauricio Rengif. Enhanced through musical fusion, the single blends strings, composition, and a powerful urban arrangement, proving another instance of musical evolution for Sebastián Yatra as an artist. In tandem with the single release, the pairing released a Daniel Duran-directed music video that immerses elegance into the emotion behind a desired relationship, filmed in the beautiful Adrienne Arsht Center theater in Miami.
LIQUID STRANGER – THE DRILL [WAKAAN]
WAKAAN kingpin Marin Stääf – alias Liquid Stranger – returns with his first original single of the year “The Drill,” a devastating bass anthem with stabbing synths and thunderous lows. True to its title, “The Drill” is an earth-shattering production that mercilessly rips through speakers. As “The Drill” warms up, a hypnotic melody eases into the track before subverting to chaos as it supplies an abrasive and powerful synth that takes center stage. Next, an ominous figure commands “connect the bass beams,” and Liquid Stranger dutifully obliges by providing a gritty bassline that ups the track’s energy to new heights. Controlled by this omnipotent narrator, “The Drill” continues to drive harder and harder with increasingly vicious and visionary dubstep elements. On the second drop, Liquid Stranger keeps bassheads on their toes by swapping the beat’s familiar rhythm with a bouncier cadence, still packing the same punch but with a shade friendlier feel. Finally, “The Drill” begins to cool down as the same intro melody that ushered in the rampant bass frenzy brings the track to a natural and subdued finish.
QUIVVER – DON’T SAY ANYTHING (RINZEN REMIX) [BEDROCK]
Long-standing British producer John Graham has been a dependable contributor to Bedrock’s back catalogue over the years and an indispensable name in Techno’s progression since the early 90s. Adopting his Quivver moniker once more, the adept sound designer delivers another tantalizing production to Bedrock’s eclectic discography in the form of “Don’t Say Anything”, featuring a heady remix courtesy of Rinzen. Known for his deep and introspective sound design, Rinzen strips back the original and reimagines it through a darker lens. Rinzen’s take on “Don’t Say Anything” amps up the reverb on the vocal chops and dives into a cinematic melodic ride that builds up into complete euphoria.
LES BISOUS – I’M COMING OUT FT. TIAAN [DJcity]
Having already made quite the name for themselves flipping classic hits with disco flare, French disco outfit Les Bisous show no signs of slowing down. Making their dynamic debut on DJcity Records, their new single “I’m Coming Out” ft. TIAAN is Les Bisous at their funk-driven best. Classic disco beats carry listeners as Sydney-bred TIAAN lends her sultry smooth vocal performance to elevate the track to new heights. Sure to bring dance music lovers on a trip down memory lane, Les Bisous & TIAAN’s wondrous rework of the Diana Ross classic is poised to keep dancefloor goers moving until the early morning. Constantly looking to reinvent the wheel, Les Bisous make compelling disco beats for the 21st century. “I’m Coming Out” is yet another impressive notch in their rapidly growing playbook, showcasing their unique expertise in coaxing fresh sounds out of classic hit tracks.
DIGITALZ – BEG FOR IT
French electropop act Digitalz make their highly-anticipated return to the release radar with ‘Beg For It’, the third lead single off of their upcoming full-length album slated for release later in the year. The wholly entrancing original production starts off with a mellow, subdued beat. Audibly atmospheric sensibilities are sprinkled throughout the approximately three-minute endeavor, flawlessly complemented by its infectious, high-octane flair. A rising tension is released in full force several times, followed by hefty bass drops and a larger-than-life ambiance. Renowned multi-platinum selling American singer/songwriter Mickey Shiloh’s melodious vocal cut serves as a perfect juxtaposed backdrop for the tune’s hard-hitting tone and is paired impeccably with Tampa native and hip-hop artist Deem’s flowing rap verse.
RAIN MAN & OLY – STILL YOUNG
‘Still Young’ is the first glance of Rain Main as he attempts to reinvent himself, highlighting all his artistic impulses geared to create an energetic track that evokes enthusiasm and hope. As for dance music enthusiasts, the new single stimulates inside emotions and the eagerness of power to achieve. “Still Young” combines complex layers of instrumental range and a dense rhythm resulting in a song with an enticing texture of dance and electronic music, rising as the next promising summer hit. With all the momentum by his side, there is a lot of room for optimism regarding the future of Rain Man. Since the break up from the dance/electronic band Krewella, the necessary pause of his career allowed Kris Trindl the time to work on himself internally and reflect on some of the decisions made in his younger years. “Still Young” is not only a piece of new music for Rain Man, but a sign of life as the producer aims to conquer the dance sphere with his fresh state of mind.
GL0BAL – ‘INSOMNIA’ EP [CIRCUS RECORDS]
Opening with the lead single ‘Snake’ with So Sus, Gl0bal kicks off the new EP on a thunderous note. Packed full of distorted instrumentals and commanding vocal samples, the track emulates all the hallmarks of a classic trap offering. With a smooth transition into the next single, ‘Headache’, the melody builds in a seemingly haunting way filled with twists and turns as the powerful trap-inspired bassline floods the soundscape with chilling vocal cuts. The multifaceted producer showcases his versatility as the EP flows into the third track, ‘Love Wins’ with Burgess. Finding a harmonious balance between the captivating vocals and cinematic heavy bassline, ‘Love Wins’ proves to be a standout track on ‘Insomnia 3’. The final track, ‘Company’ opens with a graceful melody and resonating vocals before Gl0bal’s domineering instrumentals cut through the sonic landscape. Although each track is unique in its offering, Gl0bal creates a cohesive four-track collection to mark the third edition in his highly-anticipated ‘Insomnia’ EP series.
