New Beauty: Organic Skincare Brand LXMI Launches New Collection

On Thursday, Sept. 22, organic skincare brand LXMI launched its latest collection at MAIYET in Soho NYC.

The new LXMI (pronounced “lux-me” after the Hindu goddess of beauty and prosperity) collection includes Crème du Nil, a pore refining moisturize veil that is the perfect go-to daily moisturizer, as well as a Pure Nilotica Melt, for those dry-skin moments.

Both products contain LXMI’s signature Nilotica nuts, which are cold-pressed by women in Uganda in need of work. This means not only will this luminous duo have your skin glowing, but you can also make a social impact by using as well.

LXMI founder and socially-conscious entrepreneur, Leila Janah was inspired to launch her beauty line after a business trip to Uganda where she discovered a rare strain of African shea, which has a 25% higher concentration of healthy fatty acids than typical crops.

“I feel like we’re just now entering the early stages of truly high-end, natural skincare. In the same way we now know that an heirloom tomato that’s grown on the vine is totally different than a hothouse tomato that is not organic, that awareness has not yet reached beauty. We kind of think that ‘all-natural’ is the same, and I think it’s totally different. There’s a really different story we can tell around unique and pristine organic ingredients,” explained Janah during her launch event.

After hearing so much about the natural benefits of these products, as well as the impact they have on impoverished communities, I knew I had to try them out for myself. After my first use, I decided that the moisturizer and the pure melt pommade – which can also be used as a night mask – are nothing short of luxe. I applied right after my routine face wash, and my skin almost instantly glowed. As an added bonus to the natural glow and highlight (which I was obviously loving), I felt so protected and prepared to endure the harsh city grit the next morning.

                                                                          “The Melt”

Both products from the collection are now available on QVC and Sephora.
