On May 4, 2024, the YouTube Theater in Inglewood, California, became the epicenter of comedic brilliance as the legendary Katt Williams graced the stage for his highly anticipated stand-up comedy show, “The Dark Matter Tour.” Aptly titled “Woke Foke,” the sold-out event was a celebration of Williams’ unique perspective and unfiltered humor, drawing audiences from around the globe.
As the lights dimmed and the crowd erupted into cheers, Williams emerged, exuding confidence and charisma. With his trademark swagger and infectious energy, he immediately had the audience hanging onto his every word. “Woke Foke” wasn’t just a comedy show; it was a masterclass in social commentary, delivered with razor-sharp wit and fearless honesty.
Throughout the evening, Williams tackled a myriad of topics, from politics and race relations to pop culture and everyday absurdities. No subject was off-limits, and Williams fearlessly delved into controversial territory, challenging his audience to confront uncomfortable truths while never failing to elicit uproarious laughter.
But Williams wasn’t alone in delivering comedic brilliance. Before he took the stage, a lineup of comedy heavyweights warmed up the crowd with their own uproarious sets. Red Grant, Tacarra Williams, Mark Curry, and Mo’Nique each brought their unique comedic stylings to the stage, setting the perfect tone for the evening ahead.
As the headliner, Williams effortlessly stole the show with his impeccable timing, sharp improvisation, and larger-than-life persona. Williams emphasized the urgency of reparations for Black people, drawing a parallel to the ongoing conflict between Ukraine and Russia.
“It is now time for Black people in America to get paid reparations for everything that them and their ancestors have been through in American history,” Williams said to the audience at YouTube Theater. “Why now, Katt? Thanks for asking, white friends. I’ll tell you why now. And understand white friends, I don’t speak for all Black people. But I do speak for all n***as. And you are not supposed to know the difference.”
Williams continued, “We just gave $100 billion to the Ukraine. And God bless the Ukrainians. But off the record? We don’t know them n***as like that! You could’ve gave that money to Black people. The fuck? We done gave them all that money. The truth is they over there getting their ass whooped over there. You coulda gave that money to the Black people of Los Angeles, and they’d have went over there and whooped their ass in two weeks.”
If that’s not the truth I don’t know what is.
As the night drew to a close, the audience rose to their feet in thunderous applause, paying homage to a comedy icon at the height of his powers. “Woke Foke” wasn’t just a comedy special; it was a cultural event, a testament to the enduring power of laughter to transcend boundaries and bring people together.
For those unable to attend in person, the magic of “Woke Foke” was made available to audiences worldwide through a live stream on Netflix. Now, viewers everywhere have the opportunity to experience the brilliance of Katt Williams’ comedy firsthand, ensuring that his legacy will continue to inspire and entertain for years to come.
