Marking her 13th store worldwide (and her most ambitious U.S. expansion since her Soho flagship debuted in 2018), Indian designer Anita Dongre opened her newest flagship store on Wilshire Blvd in Beverly Hills on Saturday — and friends like Mindy Kaling and Poorna Jagannathan were there for the VIP launch party.

Anjula Acharia (Founder, A-Series Investments & Management; Manager, Priyanka Chopra Jonas), Jay Shetty (Author), Jeannie Mai (TV Host), Deepica Mutyala (Founder & CEO of Live Tinted), Anjali Bhimani (Actor), Francia Raisa (Actor), Maejor Ali (Musician), Richa Moorjani (Actor), Saagar Shaikh (Actor), Yvonne Orji (Actor), Anita Chatterjee (Founder/CEO, A-Game Public Relations), and others also came for the launch event.
Dongre becomes the first Indian fashion designer to plant her fashion flag in Beverly Hills, and it’s a milestone moment that underscores her mission to “take India to the world.”
Her recent collaboration with Mattel also made headlines when she became the first Indian designer to create a Diwali Barbie, which quickly sold out. The doll is also showcased in the new flagship store.

A Modern-Day Rajasthan in Beverly Hills
Step inside, and see every corner speak of India’s rich creative traditions.
The hand-painted Pichhwai wallpaper, crafted by artisans in Rajasthan over months, depicts forests, flora, fauna, and elephants. Embroidered cushions, custom carpets, and the lovely wallpaper were all handcrafted in her Indian atelier for a tapestry of textures and tones.
If you missed checking out The Great Elephant Migration art installation that was on display for months in Beverly Hills earlier this year, you can get a quick peek as the entrance to the store showcases two of the captivating sculptures: an elephant matriarch and her calf. The sculptures, crafted from invasive Lantana weeds, transform ecological threat into art, mirroring the designer’s commitment to sustainability and biodiversity that Mindy Kaling referenced in her opening remarks during her speech at the party.
