Ava DuVernay’s Netflix Series ‘Central Park Five’ staring Michael K. Williams, Vera Farmiga and John Leguizamo is set to release in 2019.
Central Park Five, Netflix’s newest limited series, written and directed by Ava DuVernay, follows the epic story of five teenagers of color being convicted for a rape they did not commit.
The four episode engagement will span from the spring of 1989, the conviction of the five teenagers-Antron McCray, Kevin Richardson, Yusef Salaam, Raymond Santana and Korey Wise, through their exoneration and settlement in 2014.
Three casting Announcements were made this week.
Emmy Award Nominee Michael K. Williams (The Wire, The Night Of) will play Bobby McCray, devoted father of accused teen Antron McCray.
Academy Award Nominee Vera Farmiga (Up in the Air, Bates Motel) will play Elizabeth Lederer, the Manhattan Assistant District Attorney and lead prosecutor on the case.
Emmy Award Winner John Leguizamo (Bloodline, John Wick) will play Raymond Santana Sr., the father of accused teen Raymond Santana Jr.
Central Park Five will premiere globally on Netflix in 2019.
