Smart managers reign supreme! In order to be successful in the music industry, we all know that behind every artist is a smart manager plus a team. One of those managers is none other than NYC/New Jersey native June Jonez.
June Jonez has been in the music industry for some time now and has experience on what it takes to be successful. He’s used his experience & knowledge to shape deals for his now artists (and in the past) like Derez Deshon and Slim Dunkin, all of them have been lately making a lot of noise with successful music videos followed by more releases and it isn’t about to stop now. Jonez has solidified being the mastermind behind his artists making sure that their next move is their best move. His previous resume also includes managing London On Da Track.
2020 has been a rollercoaster ride so far, from losing a legend like Kobe Bryant to Lil Wayne finally dropping music, it has been a crazy month of January. However, it is officially Black History Month so it only makes sense to shed light over some of our hard-working managers that put in work for their artists.
We asked him about where does he see the music game will be in 5 years from now this is what he had to say:
“Everything is going digital and music is getting younger and younger.”
“It’s a gift and a curse. You used to have to be validated somewhat before people heard you. Now you can go online and drop music and people from all around the world can hear it. Everyone has to be able to adjust to the change. We’re able to get music out much faster than we were able to back in the day.”
Best part about being a music executive is to “help change lives” as June Jonez explains why he loves his job. As for 2020, June Jonez is planning to launch a new record label along with debuting new artists like GBaby and Quantrelle through the label as well as a roster of more new artists.
