Former Shoreline Mafia member Master Kato joins us to talk about his new solo career!
We caught up with Master Kato to discuss his upcoming plans as a solo artist as well as what it was like recording the final Shoreline Mafia project Mafia Bidness. Kato also discusses his favorite tracks off of the deluxe album. Although Shoreline Mafia has disbanded, Kato still plans on creating music with long-time friend and partner Rob Vicious. What’s been the biggest change for you in 2020?
Shoreline breaking up and this Quarantine shit is real that shit definitely changed the whole year.
The Knockturnal: How do you feel now that you’re branching out to solo careers?
Master Kato: Feels good I feel like I got more room to do what I want now and really get my vision out there.
How did you decide that now is the time to go solo?
Shortly after Fenix left, I really ain’t have no choice. Fuck imma do wait? Na it’s game time.
Can you talk about what it was like working together on Shoreline Mafia’s final project? Did you know it would be your last?
Yeah kinda, the project full of old songs for one so we really wasn’t in the stu together recordin’ it like ppl think, but shit ain’t been the same for a while so it was a point where I already knew what was gonna happen.
Can we expect any shoreline mafia collaborations in the future? Any features?
Yeah, Rob my brother I’ma make music with him until I can’t no more. Bro be motivating me so I’m always gon have him on somethin.’
