International designer Malan Breton kicked off fashion week presenting his men’s and
women’s line Thursday September 10, 2015 at Gotham Hall.
The Spring/Summer collection was named: Reflection of Sun Moon Lake inspired by his visit to this special lake in Taiwan. Malan not only does mens and womens wear, but also Bridal and Costume. Upon arrival, I was assured this would not be the traditional runway show. As the models came out it was all about the baby blues, pinks and satins. Each model came out with strong voluminous locks and sleek black eye liner. The womens and mens looks ranged from mini dresses to chic pants and button up shirts. The satins were very elegant and complemented each piece very well.
As the show continued, I noticed that asian culture played a big influence on the show, as the models walked out to the sound of traditional taiwanese music, they held paper parasol umbrellas. The show continued with more casual mens looks still staying with the satins. Highlights included all blue suit pieces as well as casual mens jackets for an everyday look.
A trend that kept appearing through the show was the traditional chinese pattern cheongsam. This show was full of color and satins which is something we do not see a lot. Presented at Style Fashion Week, the collection’s final touches were added by Malan Breton‘s hair partner Ecru New York, with tattoos by Black Lace Skin Jewelry. Malan teamed up with cancer research charity, Sound Affects. In support of Sound Affects, he has donated a finale gown that will be auctioned off during his NYFW Wrap Party on the 15.
