The Knockturnal’s July cover artist Machine Gun Kelly performed an intimate and rowdy show at LA’s chic Peppermint Club to a packed room of revelers. The Bad Boy/Interscope Records rapper performed songs from his latest hit album ‘Bloom’.
He ran through a string of powerful and supremely catchy songs, including the smash ‘Bad Things’ featuring Camila Cabello. Ever the chameleon, he was a ferocious rapper one minute, a guitar slinging balladeer the next.
One highlight was a heart-rending tribute to the late Chester Bennington, a huge influence on Kelly’s music and aesthetic. The crowd was shaken by his powerful vocal performance – who knew Machine Gun Kelly could sing?
My favorite song of the night was ‘Gunner’, a brag-filled straight-ahead rap banger he infused with swagger and sex. Lit, it was.
ICM partners hosted the event and made sure the venue was packed with influential and fun-loving people. Reps from music’s most powerful companies were in the building and jammed along to one hit after another.
This was Kelly’s last US performance before he heads out on his ‘The 27” UK tour. What a performance it was.
