GRAMMY weekend continued for The Knockturnal as we made our way to the LL Cool J and Hennessy V.S.O.P Privilège Cognac Pre-Grammy dinner at West Hollywood hotspot Ysabel.
The dinner was a celebration of LL Cool J’s 5th year of hosting music’s biggest night and when LL Cool J throws a dinner party you can expect celebrity friends and tastemakers to be in attendance.
The bash was co-hosted by Seattle Seahawks’ quarterback Russell Wilson who walked the red carpet with girlfriend Ciara as she stunned in a dark gold dress. Mary J. Blige, Estelle and Anthony Mackie were also all in attendance.
This year’s theme was “Never Stop. Never Settle” and with all the projects LL Cool J takes on, it’s clear he loves the hustle. We chatted with the Grammy host about his hustle and more!
The Knockturnal: You’re sort of like a pro now – this is your 5th year hosting, do you get nervous the night before The Grammys?
LL Cool J: I feel it, you know. I feel it like anyone else would. I know that there’s 100 million people watching all over the world and it’s music’s biggest night but at the same time I’m just glad they invited me back and I look forward to it.
The Knockturnal: So how do you prepare the day of?
LL Cool J: I get in the shower, I brush my teeth, say a prayer and get out there do my thing.
The Knockturnal: What can the audience look forward to this year?
LL Cool J: Really exciting show. Very interesting Grammy moments, mash ups, heartfelt moments – like Adele, tributes to Lionel Richie.
The Knockturnal: And you’re one of the busiest people in the business – 2 shows, music, hosting The Grammys. How do you time manage everything?
LL Cool J: You know what, just prioritize. You know, just make a decision and figure it out. Keep the hustle!
