The Pop crooner had a message for all the boys who never text her back during her latest performance and her audience enjoyed every moment.

Last Tuesday, songstress Leyla Blue graced the stage at the Slipper Room in NYC’s Lower East Side neighborhood. Her first EP “Songs For Boys Who Didn’t Text Me Back,” is jammed packed with catchy melodies and honest lyrics. As each song details struggles in her past relationships, she creates unique soundscapes as she mixes both R&B and Pop genres.

Born and raised in Tribeca, the 20-year-old possesses many talents as a singer and songwriter. Atop from being able to play both the piano and guitar, she also attended Clive Davis’ School of Recorded Music in her hometown. She flexes her artistry in songs like “Silence,” and “What A Shame.” But she also shows an unapologetic side with the release of her newest single, “Peppa Pig” and “Fuck Yourself,” which she performed for the first time that evening.

During her performance, Leyla Blue saluted the women in her life for instilling in her a strong demeanor which later on influenced her music. She states during the show, “That despite all the bullsh*t that we experience as women. Whether it’s catcalling or being treated less than because you’re a woman… I could do whatever the hell I want. I could stand up here and talk about my feelings and feel good saying it.” Her audience embraced her fearless demeanor with open arms as they danced along the entire night.

Leyla Blue credits artists such as Amy Winehouse and Lauryn Hill as her biggest influences. Her rendition of  Winehouse’s “Valerie,” was a perfect way to pay homage to the late Grammy award-winning artist. Her voice contains a wide range as she is able to softly compliment a ballad as well as belt vocal riffs effortlessly.

Her undeniable charm captivated fans new and old. And this is only the beginning for the young artist as she continues to write and release music. Her music is widely available on all platforms.
