Each cocktail was made with thought, care, and skill. We cannot recommend Lullaby enough
Last week we attended a party to celebrate the one year anniversary of Lullaby. Located in the Lower East Side, Lullaby brings the allure and grandeur of a speakeasy and pairs it with a world class cocktail program. The bar itself is located in a secluded basement where once inside you meet a simplistic, yet chic interior and design. Adorned with lounge spaces, dim lights provided only by candles and neon signs, and ample bar seating, Lullaby offers an intimate space for all occasions.
At this celebration, guests were able to pair oysters with any of the delicious cocktails on Lullaby’s menu. At first glance, the cocktail menu at Lullaby is playful, and doesn’t seem to take itself too serious. The top part of the menu has Lullaby’s signature drinks with playful names like The Mezcal Drink and The Whiskey Drink. For these drinks, only the description of flavors is provided instead of actual ingredients. And after we tasted each cocktail, we couldn’t help but be impressed by the complexity of flavors and quality ingredients that each drink had. Our favorite signature drink was The Whiskey Drink which had the description as “elote, creamy, parsley, herbal,” in that order. When served, the drink was beautiful presented, with a spring of parsley and drops of an herbal oil placed on top of the drink’s frothy foam. As with any whiskey drink, you might expect it being spirit forward and packing a punch. With this drink, it was airy and frothy while having a lightness to it that didn’t weigh down your palate. On top of that, the herbal notes from the oil and garnish paired deliciousness with the flavors of spice and oak from the whiskey.
Another drink we tried and recommend was the Caviar Service. It is rare to see a caviar inspired drink on a cocktail menu, so throughout the night we were tempted to order this drink. The drink was simple enough and is basically a dirty martini with a caviar topped cracker paired with it. The caviar was salmon roe and offered a bright, bubbly, and sweet pairing to the brightness and acidity coming from the martini. This drink can only be described as a decadent delight.
Lullaby also offers other fun drinks such as The Dole Whip which is an alcoholic soft serve ice cream which was one of the favorites for the night. And we would be remiss not the mention The Abuelita which was made with Mezcal, Granny Smith, Almond, and Cinnamon. This drink had the essence of a spiced apple cider paired with the smokiness of the mezcal and was one that we saw guests ordering over and over again.
Lullaby is one of those bars that you have to be in the know about. But once you know, you will never look back. Having some of the most delicious cocktails we have tried in the LES, it is definitely a spot we will be coming back to time and time again.
