Sip & Stitch, led by master leather artisan Anthony Luciano, is a three-hour workshop where guests create a genuine leather bag inside a Chelsea design studio straight out of ‘Project Runway.’
From the moment you walk in, the studio sets the tone. Leather, fabrics, and tools lined the walls, while workstations stood ready for the class. Immediately, the space felt like a designer’s workroom in motion. Thankfully, cocktails were also ready to be poured—definitely not Project Runway rules.
The loft is stunning. Industrial with natural light, and a cozy balcony shaped an inspiring environment. As a result, the studio felt less like a classroom and more like an active design atelier.

Anthony guides you through each step with patience and precision. He broke down every technique clearly, making the process approachable even for beginners. At the same time, he shared stories from his decades in the fashion industry.
Anthony has spent more than 20 years creating bespoke leather accessories in New York City’s Garment District. His work has been carried by Meryl Streep and Cameron Diaz, and it has appeared on Broadway in The Queen of Versailles and Gypsy.
After that, the workshop shifted into a rhythm. Anthony demonstrated each step, then sent us back to our stations to apply it ourselves. This “team direction” format kept everyone engaged while balancing structure with independence.
Guests choose from a range of projects based on skill level and interest, with prices ranging from about $125 to $250. Options include structured handbags, crossbody bags, tote designs, passport holders, and bag charms. Each design stays fully customizable through leather, hardware, and finishing details.

Meanwhile, Anthony’s team of skilled crafters moved through the room, offering hands-on help whenever needed. The energy stayed warm, supportive, and just the right amount of sassy—very “make it work” energy when things didn’t go as planned. Wine and snacks flowed throughout the session, keeping the atmosphere relaxed and social.
Over time, the class has also become a family affair, with Anthony’s nephew assisting in select sessions. Overall, the vibe lands somewhere between ‘Project Runway’ chaos and the polished precision of ‘The Devil Wears Prada’—structured, stylish, and cinematic.
Finally, the class draws a wide mix of attendees, from solo participants and date nights to groups traveling in from across the country. Many first discovered it after seeing its viral Today Show segment several years ago.
By the end of the evening, you leave with more than a custom purse. You also get deeper appreciation for the craft behind luxury leather goods. In the end, Sip & Stitch delivers a creative New York experience that blends design, community, and hands-on artistry.
