This past week at the Avalon Nightclub in Hollywood, California, Tommy Lasorda and Iron Man star Don Cheadle had a blast as they attended the Los Angeles Police Memorial Foundation Celebrity Poker Tournament with PokerStars Helping Hands at The Avalon over the weekend. The event helped the families of LAPD Officers who have been injured or killed in the line of duty.
The tournament was hosted by Don Cheadle, Christopher Meloni, Danny Masterson, Luke Wilson, Jerry West, Peter Facinelli, Tito Ortiz, Jerry Cantrell, Billy Burke, Andre Reed, Gilles Marini, Camryn Manhei, Lou Diamon Phillips, AJ Buckley, Christopher Judge, Keearan Giovanni, Keesha Sharp, Golnesa “GG” Gharachedaghi, Jason Collins, Jayde Nicole, Michael Paul Chan, Shanna Moakler, Tia Carrera, Tony Denison and Vanessa Marcil.
The tournament was awesome – there was a crazy fun Photo Booth in which guests could take pictures in funky hats and necklaces, with an array of endless emoji signs and funny sayings. There was also an open bar and DJ bumping tunes all night long.
Lucky enough, we caught up with one of the hosts Don Cheadle. See what he had to say about hosting.
What made you want to host tonight? How excited are you?
I’m glad to be here . It’s for a good cause. It’s nice when you can mix something that you love to do with something that’s helpful.
Are there other causes that you support?
Of course. I have education concerns that I support; there are several things I try to be involved in. It’s nice to talk about things that actually matter. It’s important when you have the platform to give back.
How do you prepare for hosting?
I have to know all of the cheat signals. Drink a lot. And I have to find out a way to embarrass myself within the first half hour. It shouldn’t be hard.
Not going to lie, Knockturnalites, Don Cheadle got down with poker. It was LIT. Pics or it didn’t happen? We got you…
