Actor, Producer, and Comedian Kevin Hart has funded a two-hour long comedic special about black history which is set to air on the History Channel.
Hartbeat Productions and Comedy Dynamics brings The Black Man’s Guide to History to audiences nation-wide.
The shows opens to Hart finding his daughter watching 12 Years a Slave. He gets visibly angry because he see that her only understanding of black history is about slavery or oppression. This prompts Hart to re-enact moments from history and educate her about important black historical figures.
Hart makes sure to include a wide range of accomplishments from people such as Matthew Henson, the first person to go to the North Pole and Mae Jemison, the first black female astronaut, among others.
“I’m very excited to be working with History on this show because not only is it entertaining, and it’s hysterical, but it also is an important program for our country right now,” Hart tells Deadline. “We hope to make people laugh and learn a bit too.”
No air date has currently been scheduled for the show.
