Artist KAWS confirmed back in January that he would be collaborating with Jordan Brand.
Per recent updates, the collaboration will include the Air Jordan 4. The artist has spent the past few weeks posting images of the sneaker on his Instagram for all his fans to see. The KAWS x Air Jordan 4 is to be released worldwide on March 31, 2017 at the suggested retail price of $350.
The sneaker features a Cool Grey suede upper – a direct connection to the colorway in KAWS’ companion pieces – that has premium textured designs on it. Additional details include a suede midsole, waxed laces, an icy glow-in-the-dark outsole with KAWS graphics and co-branded heel tabs. The sneaker will also be accompanied by a matching apparel collection. This collection includes a black satin coach’s jacket, a hoodie and a 5-panel hat. Each piece blends KAWS’ designs, whether it be his “XX” or trademark hands, with Jordan’s famous Jumpman logo.
Nike has taken pride in the collaboration, explaining on their news website that the collection is celebrating these revolutionary partners. Gemo Wong, Senior Design Director for Special Projects at Jordan brand told Nike that “with KAWS, we [Jordan Brand] create new connections and push the boundaries of our design thinking.”
