It was a girl’s dream wardrobe at Katty Xiomara’s F/W 2017 Collection.
The Portuguese designer has been showing at NYFW since 2014 and Monday’s show at Pier 59 Studios with 40 (!!!) unique looks made it clear she isn’t slowing down anytime soon.
The show was full of feminine frocks, with playful separates and whimsical dresses, evening and casual. But prominent throughout the collection? Bows, lace, polka dots, and sparkle in addition to fanciful hand drawn patterns that reminded us of children’s coloring books.
Especially unique was Xiomara’s take on fall/winter. There was plenty of satin, velvet, and fur along with a few leggy separates like short shorts and dresses.
Xiomara’s collection took us on a journey through her creative mind. The show began started with rosy pastels and became about 50 shades darker towards the end of the show. But throughout the show, models were sent down the runway in the most innovative of creations, like hand drawn white overalls over a blue blouse. But Xiomara really shined in her set of metallic dresses that appeared to be made of foil.
On the beauty side, models donned red lips and ethereal hair that was curly on the top and straight towards the bottom.
Highlights included a black shimmering floor length dress over a sheer sparkly polo neck blouse, a super short metallic patterned dress with polo neck and bow, and a coat that was covered in a hand drawn pattern of animals.
