The Knockturnal caught up with the always wonderful June Ambrose at the Ovarian Cancer Research Fund’s (OCRF) 18th annual Super Saturday NY presented by Fiji Water.
Tell us about your outfit!
I wanted to wear something tangerine and vibrant and bright. I always go maxi cause I’m vertically challenged so it always makes me look taller cause I’m not going to wear heels here. So might as well wear something long and just get one fluid line, monochromatic, airy, breezy, and comfortable, I mean, that’s what it’s about. This is Cavalli.
Why is this event so important to you?
I think Ovarian Cancer is a disease that really goes overlooked. Women don’t really necessarily focus on it as much and if you get it early, early detection could save your life and I think that’s half the battle is reminding your girlfriends, reminding yourself, get checked, know that as women we have to look out for each other. And I’m glad there are so many male designers involved now, I was just talking to Dennis Basso about this and he said without you women, there is no us, and I said that is very true. I feel like we all have family members that have been affected by this somehow, I’ve definitely had it in my family, so I think that it’s important to spread the word and support something that’s going to save lives.
Other stars in attendance included Alec and Hilaria Baldwin, designer Dennis Basso, Joy Behar, Jonathan Cheban, actor Mark Feuerstein, actress Clare Foley, Miss USA Olivia Jordan, Gayle King, Kelly Rutherford, Brooke Shields, Molly Sims, Joe Zee and Rachel Zoe. The event was also presented by QVC.
