In Bed with Roy Cohn is a new play by Joan Beber.
Joan Beber’s new show follows the last night of the infamous Roy Cohn. During his final moments, he is visited by friends, enemies and family, forcing him to come to terms with his past. Christopher Daftsios stars as Roy Cohn, supported by a cast including Marilyn Sokol, Lee Roy Rogers, Ian Gould, Andy Reinhardt, Nelson Avidon, Serge Thony and Rebeca Fong. Each actor plays characters ranging from Ronald Reagan, to Julius Rosenberg, who each help Cohn through the end of his life. The structure of the play is a mixture of A Christmas Carol and All The Way; a story of political trials, mixed with meeting the ghosts of ones past. It’s advertised as a ‘serious comedy’, making a valiant effort by using a mixture of Roy Cohn’s harsh past, with quick and sarcastic humor.
Katrin Hilbe directed Beber’s new show, creating a spectacle for the entire 90 minute performance. The set, lighting, and sound worked together to complete the vision for Hilbe’s directorial showcase.
