Lifetime and V103 hosted a viewing party at Suite Food Lounge for the premiere of the new unscripted series The Rap Game.
Executive producer Jermaine Dupri was on hand to celebrate the show’s debut with over 200 local VIPs, including Da Brat, Bryan Michael Cox, Johnta Austin, Greg Street, D. Woods, Jacob Latimore, Michael Mauldin, Bryan Barber, John John Da Don, Vedo, Cyrene Tankard, Final Draft, 2-Crucial, Nue Era, Phresh Ali and many more. Atlanta-based cast member Miss Mulatto along with her parents Shayne and Misti Pitts were also in attendance to enjoy the festivities, as veteran DJ Jelly kept the energy high on the turntables.
The Rap Game – airing Fridays at 10/9c on Lifetime – will give five emerging young hip hop artists, ages 12 to 16, the opportunity to rhyme and flow with Dupri as he searches for the next big name in hip hop. Lil’ Niqo, 15, San Diego, CA – Lil’ Niqo has been making music history since he was 10. He was the youngest rapper signed to Island Def Jams and with the backing of the label, released the single, “Ok Then,” featuring DJ Khaled. With his big personality and confidence, he was selected to be a young correspondent for BET and MTV’s red carpets and even has found his way to television, which his debut on the procedural drama, The Finder, working alongside 50 Cent, Michael Clarke Duncan and Jacob Latimore. Though he enjoys acting, his music career has always been his passion and his priority. With his “momager” Nique by his side, there’s no stopping Lil’ Niqo’s path to success.
Lil’ Poopy, 11, Brockton, MA – Said to have been born with a microphone in his mouth and beats in his blood, Lil’ Poopy has made over 200 videos showcasing his talent. The youngest in the group, he writes his own songs and spends most of his time in the music studio. He has even performed with hip hop artists such as Puff Daddy, Rick Ross and French Montana. His father and mentor, Luis Rivera, Sr. will do anything to see his son rise to the top – including hiring the hottest models and renting out Ferrari’s for his son’s music videos.
Miss Mulatto, 16, Atlanta, GA – As a young rapper, Miss Mulatto began her career performing at birthday parties and has since made a name for herself in Atlanta. She has opened for multiple artists in Atlanta and travels in style to all of her performances, with her very own Miss Mulatto-wrapped SUV and security in tow. Her mom, Misti, is by her side at all of her competitions and rap battles. As one of the few Caucasian moms in the rap circuit, Misti has found it difficult to infiltrate the tight-knit social circle.
Supa Peach, 12, Atlanta, GA – Self-proclaimed ‘born to perform’ and ‘Queen of the South,’ Supa Peach raps, sings, dances and models. She feels that other kids out there need to get on her level and her unique style is highlighted with her signature cape. Sure of daughter’s profound talent, Josetta has moved her family from the Virgin Islands to give her daughter everything she needs to launch her rap career, even if it means being a “tiger mom.”
Young Lyric, 14, Houston, TX – Young Lyric’s hip hop career began by chance when she posted a video of her rapping with friends on YouTube went viral. She recorded her first song at seven years old and was named the “Best 14 Year Old Rapper” by WorldStarHipHop.com viewers and was the proud recipient of the “Female Hip Hop Grind” award at the 3rd Annual Female Hip Hop Honors in Los Angeles last year. Her parents, Olivia and Mitchell, will do whatever it takes to get her to the next level and believe she’s on the brink of superstardom.
Produced by Intuitive Entertainment, The Rap Game is executive produced by Sean Rankine (Basketball Wives), Kevin Dill (The Millionaire Matchmaker) and Mechelle Collins (Atlanta Plastic) in addition to Dupri and Latifah.
