Ahead of the premiere of Prime Video’s newest procedural series, Countdown, I had the pleasure of talking to stars Jensen Ackles, Eric Dane, Jessica Camacho, Violett Beane, Uli Latukefu, and Elliot Knight for an exclusive junket conversation.
Countdown is a gripping and fast-paced procedural centered around a covert task force in Los Angeles. After a Department of Homeland Security officer is killed in plain sight, undercover agents from various law enforcement backgrounds must work together to track down the murderer. But they soon uncover a much more sinister plot, launching them into a race to save the city.
Eric Dane, who plays FBI Special Agent Nathan Blythe, describes his character as unapologetic, deliberate, and punctual. His counterpart, Jensen Ackles, who plays Detective Mark Meacham, describes himself as determined, unyielding, and a maverick. Beloved by fans worldwide for their previous roles of Dr. Mark Sloan (McSteamy) on Grey’s Anatomy and Dean Winchester on Supernatural, respectively, the duo is excited for fans to experience them in this new genre, and they describe the show as “having a lot of heart.”
Jessica Camacho, who plays Special Agent Amber Oliveras, spoke about the importance of portraying the complexity of the female experience in the male-dominated field of law enforcement. Violett Beane also emphasized that the show portrays the camaraderie of women lifting each other up in the workplace.
The first three episodes of Countdown are streaming now on Prime Video with new episodes dropping every Wednesday through September 3rd.
