Golden Globe winner, “Jane The Virgin” star Gina Rodriguez joins Naja in taking eco-undies to the next level.
Let’s face it, the world is slowly but surely moving toward a more sustainable existence and to not hop on the bandwagon at some point is, well, not an option. Recognizing this many companies have opted to transition sooner rather than later, and among such forward thinkers is the new lingerie start-up Naja.co.
Ever thought about buying and wearing repurposed lingerie? Okay stop, I know where your thoughts are heading and trust me it’s not what you think, i.e. it’s nothing gross. Naja.co with founder Catalina Girald and newbie Gina Rodriguez found a way to turn plastic bottles into underwear. Super cool and brilliant right! From the get-go, a significant percentage of Naja’s merchandise was and is made from fabrics generated from recycled plastic bottles. And that’s not even what makes this brand so special.
Naja aims to support single mothers through employing them as the primary workers in their factory, they also aim to change society’s single-minded notion of beauty: beauty in terms of one’s body and sustainable fashion–since when some people hear eco-friendly or sustainable fashion they start picturing hideous looking things.
[slideshow]This socially and environmentally conscious lingerie “brand to watch” was launched in 2014 with a mission to empower women and with all the body shamming happening, the brand focuses on encouraging body positivity. Each design is beautifully and expertly made and has a little surprise; hidden inspirational quotes. Honestly even I didn’t expect the designs to be so sexy, but they are, and best of all they’re made responsibly.
Sexy and sustainable, you can’t get any better than that.
