After a much talked about season one, by way of popular demand, the comedy-drama web series “Hunting Season” is back.
The returning cast and crew, in addition to some new faces came out Monday night to the Landmark Sunshine Cinema in Manhattan where specially invited guests like Kelly Bensimon, Ayer, Phillip Bloch, AndrewAndrew, and more were presented with the first three episodes of Season Two’s “Hunting Season.”
Creator/director Jon Marcus told us that it was necessary to expand the format this time around from the standard 10 minute web length to the TV standard of 20 minute long episodes in order to make way for broader story lines. “There are many of things that get over simplified in a lot of the representations [of gays] on television. And I thought that the life that I was leading wasn’t being truthfully represented anywhere,” Marcus, who has been producing films that highlight mainstream and gay culture for over a decade expressed. But pulling it off wouldn’t happen without a few hitches. After a few lapsed business deals, Marcus turned to funding platform Kickstarter, where fans showed their appreciation for the web series and were generous to the cause, hitting their goal of $150,000. “We turned to Kickstarter because we were determined to keep telling these stories,” Marcus explained.
The chonicles of Alex, his life as a secret sex blogger and best friend’s Tommy and TJ progresses on in season two, as the guys continue to explore modern day life of being gay in New York City. Based off of the real-life popular blog, “The Great Cock Hunt”, battling between the good and bad sides of their sexualities, new relationships and experiences, the guys delve heavily into promiscuity and bare all with no apologies, almost putting you in the mind of a gay version of “Sex in the City”. With a weekly roll-out every Tuesday, season two of “Hunting Season” debuted on Vimeo On Demand on May 5. For more information on the comedy series, visit HUNTINGSEASON.tv.
