The Lotte Palace Hotel held its annual tree lighting celebration this week.
The Lotte Palace Hotel held its annual holiday tree lighting celebration earlier this week, November 29. The 30-foot tree in the hotel’s courtyard was sparkling in full effect, but unfortunately for hotel guests the rain made any kind of outdoor celebration impossible. Still, the lack of an actual tree lighting did little to dampen partygoers’ spirits. The event was held in the hotel’s ornate Madison & Gold room, where two festively dressed Rockettes posed for pictures with guests. The event kicked off with a message from the Palace’s manager Becky Hubbard, thanking the hotel guests and partners for their business.
Hubbard then introduced the cast of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s School of Rock, who launched into a punchy rendition of their song “Stick It To The Man.” The child ensemble gave a surprisingly enthusiastic performance of the updated song, complete with synchronized cheers and a snide Kardashian reference. They then shifted tone to deliver a heartfelt version of “If Only You Would Listen,” which featured several powerful solos from the talented cast members. To wrap up the show, 11-year-old Bobbi MacKenzie performed “The Christmas Song (Merry Christmas To You),” which was met with excited applause from the crowd.
After the performance ended, guests mingled in the ballroom as a holiday DJ played Christmas favorites and waiters served trays of festive hors d’oeuvres. Despite the rain moving the party indoors, attendees were treated to a very special holiday event this week, and it doesn’t seem like the Palace will be hearing any complaints from its guests anytime soon. Trays of complimentary champagne, cider, and Moscow mules didn’t seem to hurt, either.
