‘Art The Throne’ Takes Over The LES In Advance of Game of Throne’s 6th Season Premiere

On Wednesday night, New York’s oldest synagogue was transformed into the Seven Kingdoms of Westeros. HBO’s Game of Thrones, which premieres its sixth season on Sunday, hosted several art installations at the Angel Orensanz Foundation in New York’s Lower East Side.
–
“Art The Throne” featured five installations from local artists exploring the characters and major moments of the show in mixed media. Attendees included Game of Thrones actors Jacob Anderson aka Raleigh Ritchie (Grey Worm) and Hannah Murray (Gilly) along with musician Wyclef Jean, DJ duo The Martinez Brothers, actress Rose McGowan and more.
 –
In the center of the space, Art Collective CYRCLE created a large reflective crown with engravings on the inside featuring words like RISE and FEAR. Pop Chart Lab, an organization known for their infographics, used the Red Wedding massacre as inspiration for an illuminated manuscript.
 –
Street art muralist Tristan Eaton transformed Daenerys Targaryen’s image into a pop art masterpiece, recreating her profile in different colors a la Andy Warhol. Illustrator Marcos Chin animated Brienne of Tarth’s image using light and the walls of the space. And finally, paper sculptor Jeff Nishinaka’s displayed a life size white walker standing over several suffering souls.
 –
Guests were treated to Brewery Ommegang’s Game of Thrones beer and craft tequila cocktails like ‘The Rains of Castamere’ and ‘Dragon’s Breath’ while snacking on mac and cheese balls and shrimp on polenta. There was also a short performance of the show’s theme by a mariachi band.
