The second annual “Gurus Magazine” Oscars Retreat was a smashing success.

Hosted by CEO/Founder of “Gurus Magazine,” Derek Warburton and executive produced by Rachel Wilson, the starry event took place Feb. 28 and March 1 at the Godfrey Hotel Hollywood’s I/O rooftop bar.

Warburton curated the affair to reflect the current times Angelenos have been faced in recent months.

“In LA we’re survivors and we’re storytellers. Everybody that moves here wants to tell a story. So, whether you’re an actor, a producer, or a writer, you want to say something to keep you going,” he told Knockturnal. “It was so important that we just get back to life. And even though we’ve been through hard times, we’re resilient, and our community came together to help people. By hosting this event I wanted to come together and honor people that think the same way we do. We live by our Guru’s philosophy of truth, passion, and authenticity. And we are just growing and living our lives…That’s why we come together and celebrate the beauty of life.”

Gurus proudly partnered with Habitat for Humanity LA as part of the lounge and on prior dates when Gurus jumped to their aid- including creating a donation center for those affected by the disaster. At the retreat, guests painted seedling pots for survivors of the LA Wildfires, so they could have a token of growth to take with them as they settle into their new homes. Local artist, Joey DeRuy also painted full canvases both days to provide even more inspiration.
