Gallant hosted a listening party on Wednesday for his new album, Ology.
Gallant, a 24-year-old R&B singer from Maryland, has been promoting his new album, Ology, a fifteen-track LP composed of elements from many different musical genres, including classic rock, soul, electronic, and contemporary R&B. Some fan favorites in the album include “Bourbon,” which he released earlier in 2015.
The listening party took place at 287 Gallery in Chelsea, NYC, a cozy space that gave a more intimate setting for this event. Light hip hop played in the background and colored LED lights lit the room with soft light as bartenders poured glasses of champagne. Also, did I mention there was open bar?
Gallant introduced himself to everyone in the room, which included writers, his team, his family, and his friends. For an hour, the LP was played as guests enjoyed drinks and good conversation. Gallant himself was busy warmly greeting every single one of his guests and accepting hearty congratulations every where he turned.
He said Ology came from a difficult time in his life, and found himself meeting obstacles along the process of its completion. Gallant described his debut album as coming from a place of yearning and the constant pursuit of betterment and self-dissection. “The hardest thing was to get over some of the lyrics and having the comfort to let people into that world because when I talk about stuff that really means a lot to me, it kind of feels a little too vulnerable,” he said. “There’s no bravado, you know, there’s no phony act of masculinity or any of that bullshit. It’s straight from my brain and hopefully that comes through on the songs on the album.”
Gallant has previously revealed two songs on Ology: “Weight in Gold,” and “Skipping Stones”, which features R&B singer Jhené Aiko. Ology will be dropping on April 6th. He will also be appearing as a special guest in music producer ZHU’s Neon City tour.
