From Nature to Nightlife: A Solo Saturday at Marine Park, See No Evil Pizza & Nothing Really Matters

Saturday, March 1, was one of those days where the city was buzzing with multiple events, and while I appreciated the invites, there was no way I could attend them all. Instead, I chose to embrace a balance of nature, indulgence, and solo city exploration starting my day with a peaceful walk and ending it with some of the best pizza and drinks in New York.

Morning Reset: A Walk in Nature at Marine Park

I started my day early with a walk through Marine Park, breathing in the crisp air and embracing the shift from February into March. This is something I often do, as spending time in nature, especially near water, helps me clear my mind, set my intentions, and ground myself. It’s like a cheat code for life, a way to mentally reset before a busy day ahead.

There’s something about the stillness of the morning, the sound of water nearby, and the openness of the sky that makes everything feel lighter. It’s a ritual I’ve come to cherish, a moment to be present before diving into the energy of the city.

An Evening Indulgence: See No Evil Pizza

With my mind refreshed and my appetite growing, I had already planned to cheat just a little on my fitness regimen by indulging in some of the best pizza NYC has to offer. But not just any pizza; I had my sights set on See No Evil, a hidden gem that has been making waves for its incredible slices and unique atmosphere.

Tucked inside Nothing Really Matters, this spot is easy to miss if you don’t know where to look. Coming out of the 50TH  Street No. 1 train station, it’s just past the turnstile’s unassuming entrance that opens into a stylish and intimate oasis.

I decided to take myself on a date solo, no plus-one, just enjoying the moment as a single writer in New York. The servers were welcoming, the space was cozy, and the vibe felt just right.

I ordered a slice topped with classic marinara sauce, soppressata, pecorino cheese and Calabrian chile, paired with a glass of red wine and a scoop of ice cream for dessert, it was worth every bite. (Don’t worry, I was back in the gym on Sunday.)

Drinks & Vibes at Nothing Really Matters

What sets Nothing Really Matters apart isn’t just the quality of food and drinks—it’s what would be referred to in Brooklyn as “The Spot.” The dimly lit bar has a cozy, hidden-in-plain-sight feel, offering private nooks for intimate gatherings and larger reservations.

The DJ had the perfect old-school hip-hop and R&B playlist spinning, creating an atmosphere that was both nostalgic and electric. It felt like stepping into a secret world—one where good music, great drinks and even better company come together effortlessly.

This venue, which opened right after the pandemic, has quickly become a go-to for those in the know. Whether you’re in the mood for caffeine, pizza, food, or cocktails, they have you covered. The team itself is incredible welcoming, fun, and full of good energy.

Final Thoughts

For my first Saturday in March, I couldn’t have asked for a better mix of nature, indulgence, and solo city adventures. There’s something liberating about taking yourself out, enjoying good food, and soaking in the city’s energy at your own pace.

If you’re in NYC and looking for a great spot to eat, drink, and vibe, make your way to 50TH  Street. Grab a pizza from See No Evil, then slide over to Nothing Really Matters for a drink (or two or three).

Until next time, stay curious and keep exploring the city.
