A$AP’s second in command takes another crack at decoding the acronym on his latest LP, Always Strive And Prosper.
To start this record off, ‘Trap Lord’ rapper ASAP Ferg renounced his beloved title as the “Hood Pope”. This occurs on the first of an 18 track masterpiece that pens his past successes and failures. However, Ferg asks listeners to sidestep their preconceived notions. This record boasts a versatile mixture of comedy and reality that’s found blended into Ferg’s lyricism. He goes as far as adding EDM beats into the mix.
The features on this project are also insane. Ferg calls in Missy Elliot, Future, Rick Ross Lil Uzi Vert, and his very on mother Mama Ferg. Most notable is the feature for Tatianna Paulino, A$AP Yams mother, brought in to aid in a tribute to her late son.
“It’s going to be very real this album. This album is a story of my life. It’s basically a documentary of my life and it’s very personal,” Ferg expressed to Revolt “Honestly, it’s my best work yet and I don’t even know what else I’ma do to top this in the future because it’s just my all right now.”
After listening, I agree with Ferg’s assessment of his work. It will be exciting to see how he can top this in the future. In the meantime, this creative journey will surely last the summer and then some. As he gears up for tour dates, Always Strive and Prosper is available on all most music platforms.
