“Wolfwalkers” tells the story of a young hunter named Robyn GoodFellowe (Honor Kneafsey).

Robyn has a journey with her father Bill Goodfellowe (Sean Bean) to take out the final wolf pack that is in the forest where they live. While Robyn ventures into the forest, she befriends Mebh (Eva Whittaker). Robyn soon finds out that Mebh is a member of the pack of wolves. But there is a secret about the wolves that Robyn learns.

The wolves are able to transform into humans during the day. Wolfwalkers showcases Robyn’s struggle on which side she will be on after this reveal. That is, stay with her father to complete the tasks, or help protect the wolf pack from their demise. All of this, while Mebh’s mother becomes missing in the process, and you will get an animated film that packs in drama, action, and a good story that holds up to the end.

Tomm Moore and Ross Steward are the directors of Wolfwalkers. They both worked with Will Collins to craft out the story of Wolfwalkers while also working with producers Paul Young, Stephan Roelants, and Nora Twomey at the Cartoon Saloon studio. The animation is a mixture of 2D style that goes back and forth between a woodblock aesthetic, and loose expressive that is similar to their other animated feature films such as The Secret of Kells, and The Breadwinner.

In this exclusive interview, Tomm Moore and Ross Stewart go more in detail about the pre-production of Wolfwalkers, the art style, and how the voice sessions took place. Also, there is a spoiler warning for one particular scene that is discussed.
