Last week we sat down with Tika Sumpter and Jeff Fowler to talk about their experience on the upcoming Sonic the Hedgehog 2, starring Jim Carrey, Ben Schwartz, James Mardsen and Tika Sumpter.
Director Jeff Fowler has stepped his game up with their sequel, adding a lot more comedy, and of course much more action and fun for the entire family.
After settling in Green Hills, Sonic is eager to prove that he has what it takes to be a true hero. His test comes when Dr. Robotnik returns with a new partner, Knuckles, in search of a mystical emerald that has the power to destroy civilizations.
What makes this film better is the stakes are a lot higher for Sonic here. Rather than just Green Hills being in danger, the fate of the world lies in Sonic’s hand. But this time, he has the help of Tails, a technologically savvy hedgehog trying to prove himself as a worthy sidekick. To make matters worse, Knuckles, another hedgehog whose life mission has been to take down Sonic, has teamed up with Dr. Robotnik in order to fulfill both of their goals.
Tika Sumpter, who plays Maddie, and now basically Sonic’s adopted mother, spoke about how she added a much bigger role to her character rather than having the females play “the damsels in distress.”
Director Jeff Fowler also had some promising words to say about Sonic the Hedgehog 2. Fowler directed the first Sonic, but has made grand improvements to the sequel, making it a much more watchable and enjoyable experience.
