STARZ’S P-Valley is set to return on June 3rd. The season is going to pick up from the explosive finale over a few years ago.
It is safe to say that the wait was long as P-Valley’s filming schedule suffered multiple delays due to the ongoing pandemic. After all this time, fans will be fed well once P-Valley premieres.
P-Valley looks at the lives of exotic dancers in strip clubs, which are often portrayed in television shows and films. P-Valley is based on Katori Hall’s 2015 stage play and follows several characters trying to survive at Pynk nightclub while navigating personal problems. Although the show tackles serious topics like abuse, illness, homophobia, and transphobia, it keeps it light with pithy dialogue and loads of references to dirty south music, culture, and fashion.
The synopsis of the second season of P-Valley, provided by STARZ, is the following: “When darkness descends upon Chucalissa, errybody and they mama must fight tooth and talon to survive. While some take flight to perilous new heights, others dig in their stilettos and stand their ground no matter the cost. Back at The Pynk, Autumn and Uncle Clifford grapple for the throne as new blood shakes up the locker room. Meanwhile, with the casino’s fate hanging in the balance, the local political machine kicks into overdrive. In these unprecedented times, death and danger lurk around every corner.”
The Knockturnal recently got the chance to speak with Nicco Annan, Elarica Johnson, Brandee Evans, Shannon Thornton, J. Alphonse Nicholson, and Parker Sawyers about the second season of P-Valley. The cast gave a great insight on what to expect for their characters and stories that will be fleshed out in multiple arcs.
