Netflix celebrated the debut of Stranger Things 4 with a global rift takeover.
Before the Volume 1 release of season 4, Netflix offered fans and viewers a first-of-its-kind visual experience. In various iconic locations that spanned 14 countries, a light show via custom technology was displayed in multiple areas. Locations include The Empire State Building in New York City, Piazza Duomo Square in Milan, Bondi Beach in Australia, Wawel Castle in Krakow, Poland, Shibuya Crossing in Tokyo, etc. In each of these places, onlookers were able to “enter” the upside-down for an immersive visual spectacle. The 15-minute video offered viewers a glimpse into some of the storylines shown throughout season 4.
The Knockturnal attended the light show in New York City and spoke with spectators about the atmosphere and their excitement for Stranger Things 4. All around the world, through various social channels, coordinates were released to tip fans off and help them gather collectively to watch the show. In Addition to the light show, attendees received free Stranger Things apparel, listened to music, and connected with others who shared in anticipation for season 4.
Volume 1 of the long-awaited season, released on May 27th and the second, will be available on July 1st.
