Last weekend, the Knockturnal sat down with the cast of Bingo Hell to discuss their experience on the upcoming installment in the Welcome to the Blumhouse series.
Adriana Barraza and Richard Brake give terrific performances in the very fun and socially relevant comedy-horror Bingo Hell.
In the Barrio of Oak Springs live a strong and stubborn group of elderly friends who refuse to be gentrified. Their leader, Lupita (Adriana Barraza), keeps them together as a community, a family. But little did they know, their beloved Bingo hall is about to be sold to a much more powerful force than money itself.
Adriana Barraza puts on a cute performance as Lupita, an abuelita who, along with her friends, doesn’t want to live in just another gentrified neighborhood. If there’s one part of the film that’s more relatable than others, it’s the unconditional love aspect of Lupita’s character, always caring for her friends and family.
Her grandson, Caleb (Joshua Caleb Johnson) also delivers a performance that adds to his already likable character and gives us someone we want to cheer for by the end.
Richard Brake, known for his past horror roles in legendary Rob Zombie’s films, plays a persuasive villain, Mr. Big, a casino owner with malicious intentions for the neighborhood he plants himself in. As always, he does what he needs to do throughout the film to make the atmosphere of the film as eerie as possible.
Bingo Hell is available on Amazon Prime Video.
