BET+ released the romantic comedy Never and Again on February 11.
The film is produced by father and son duo Master P and Romeo Miller and written and directed by LazRael Lison. Never and Again is the romantic comedy people crave this Black History Month. The film not only offers representation not just with the cast but with the writer, director, and production.
Never and Again tells the story of old flames Jasmine and Kevin who fell in love as teens however through the various challenges life and youth presented they were torn apart only to be reunited by happenstance as adults. Kevin is transitioning from a career as a professional athlete to an agent while Jasmine is starting a position as a physical therapist in her hometown. Their careers and their return home ultimately reintroduce the former couple to one another and opens the door to new possibilities in love.
The church and the concept of faith also play a role in the storytelling process. Viewers will see the significance of it while watching the two characters evolve within the space and each other.
The film shows the beauty of Black love and culture in a time that feels filled with Black pain and highlights the possibilities within second chances.
Jackie Long and Denise Boutte’s chemistry on camera is linked to their friendship and previous projects they have worked on together. They hope that the film will be considered a classic such as Love and Basketball and The Best Man. They describe working on the project as an honor and director LazRael Lison beams with joy discussing the film and being able to work with talented actors and have the film produced by Master P.
Never and Again will bring laughs and tears all while highlighting Black love and joy.
