Calling all Rebels! K. Michelle recently held a listening party in New York City for her upcoming album, “I’m The Problem”, with songs as sweet, sincere, and powerful as the artist herself.
While K. Michelle’s album is set to debut this Fall, lucky fans (or Rebels) and press alike were recently invited to preview the highly anticipated album during a private listening in New York City.
Just steps away from the Highline, eager fans gathered at the iconic Platinum Sound Recording Studios, ready to hear songs filled with raw emotion, honest lyrics, and catchy melodies.
Guests entering K Michelle’s recording booth were met with the scent of vanilla candles, as they sat around the soundboard. Within moments, K. Michelle entered the room and greeted all of her guests with her famous Southern charm. “I want ya’ll to tell me the truth”, K. Michelle said just before signaling to her engineer to play her first tack.
As the room grew quiet, K. Michelle’s signature soulful tone began to play from the speakers, evoking emotion from the entire room. After each track, K. Michelle opened the floor to her fans to ask them about their opinion, and more importantly how the song made them feel.
In between songs, Michelle spoke candidly about her life and her music, opening up about her previous tour, past relationships, and her career. Michelle also shared some of the inspiration behind the upcoming album, which she attributed to personal growth, and embracing new sounds.
While some artists shy away from being vulnerable with a project they’ve had in the works for months, K. Michelle displayed an admirable level of humbleness and humility while taking notes from her audience.
Further laying into her Southern charm, K. Michelle closed out the evening with drinks and buffet-style catering and offered guests to indulge in deliciously creamy mac n’ cheese, rasta pasta, empanadas, corn, and chicken.
The listening party was both an intimate and personal experience, as Michelle’s fans were able to connect with her on a deeper level and leave feeling inspired and empowered.
